Summary Box: Copper falls on fears about economy

TARNISHED METAL: Copper prices fell 3.6 percent as concerns mounted about the pace of the global economy. Investors are worried that high oil and gasoline prices could hurt the economy by raising transportation and manufacturing costs. That, in turn, could weaken demand for copper.

OIL-LIBYA: Oil prices continued to climb as Libyan government forces launched airstrikes against opposition fighters at an oil port. Investors worry that the political unrest could spread to other countries and further disrupt the flow of oil.

BEANS-GRAINS: Wheat, corn and soybeans all settled lower.
